Hey all,

Headed up through LA from San Diego tomorrow. I have heard that L.A. Wednesday before Thanksgiving is the worst traffic in the country. Any insight into what I am looking at? Plan is the 5 to the 405 to the 101 on the way to SB. I have heard I need to leave my house at 5 in the morning so I don't spend 6 hours in traffic on the 405. Exaggeration?

OR, drive to your destination at 5am on Thanksgiving. I'm sure you'll be a lot of traffic that way.

Right?

Leave at 3am. If you leave at 5am you'll hit traffic with all the people that are leaving at 6am

Day before is the absolute worst traffic of the year. People leaving work early, or traveling to get to their destinations, etc. The freeways leaving town are usually the heaviest: 210, 60, 10, 5, etc

I agree, this is not an exaggeration. LAX is supposed to be crazy busy this year, so leave early. 3:00 or 4:00 in the morning early!

Yep, it is definitely the worst possible day of the year. I'd leave the night before and travel in the middle of the night to stand a chance of arriving at your destination with a shred of sanity.
