Thanks. It reminded me of the other area outside LA, that being Glendale.
Pasadena is VERY expensive and I wouldn't classify that area as middle class anymore...its more upper-middle to upper class. Glendale on the other hand is very middle-class but is on the way up. Glendale gets hated on a bit, but I personally appreciated Glendale because of the large Armenian population and the culture they bring. Downtown Glendale is dope too.

There's also nearby Atwater Village, which is also still semi-affordable and is developing like crazy

Not all of Pasadena is terribly expensive. We owned 2 houses there (not at the same time). I recently looked on Zillow and they are both still in the $700K-$750K range. Both are around 1500 sq. ft.

Would Glendale be less expensive than that, particularly the La Crescenta area?

Not true about all of Pasadena.

You only lived here a very short time before you headed back to the south, not even a year. You're hardly quailfied to be dishing out so much advice on LA.

FYI, that poster lived in Southern CA for less than a year. You see they live in GA now and came from Louisiana and headed back south after a few months. You have already lived here.

I love it when posters who lived here a very short period of time or even better never lived here, start dishing out advice. They're always off base.

But their Uncle's mailman's cousin's co-worker's brother-in-law told them everything they need to know.

I mean of course its all relative, but I and many others would consider that pretty expensive being that that's on the low end for Pasadena.

Glendale was quite less when we lived there...things may very well have changed.

SN: DawnW, thanks for conversing like an adult. I mean this sincerely.

That is weird. How was that poster's post attributed to me?

I am not really sure where you can find a home for much under that and still within that drive to LA.

I am looking now and most of the areas I am looking in have that range for that size house, add in the fact that I want 4 bedrooms or 3 bedrooms with the ability to add a 4th area for a bedroom, and I can't find anything under that amount in a decent area.

Parts of the Valley offer that level of affordability...albeit less attractive. I'd also look into the area we just moved from, Santa Clarita

Are Pasadena and Glendale more pleasant places to live than LA for middle income people?
