Are some areas better than others? I want to live between the coast, the 5 , the 10 (with the exception of culver city and along the coast to LAX), and the 101 (as far into the valley as I'll go but probably not even), and maybe western pasadena, eagle rock and glendale. I don't really have a rent budget as I won't be moving there for a year. I will however be visit in January to look at apartments and stuff. Are there any particular areas that are more accepting? Here in Milwaukee it's pretty hard to find a place, but the desirable areas here are limited where as Los Angeles has more options.

It is very hard since the pit bulls are on the insurance companies' "bad dog" list.

Still do not understand apartment dwellers who have pit bulls. Rough to find a place to rent, active breed that needs lots of space.

Yeah, if you can find a house, it would be better all around for the dog .

Get a letter from your doctor that you need your dog prescribed to you. I know many people abuse it, but I would rather people abuse it then get rid of their dog.

Oh please
I wouldn't even rent to someone with "a dog prescribed" to them to get around Pitt restrictions. It doesn't even work the way you seem to think it does.
And at that point it's less about the dog and more about what a scumbag the owner is.

While you are at it, why not get a blue handicap parking placard so you can park close to store entrances.

One block over from me in Sylmar every house has a Pit Bull. I don't go on that street.

Avoid apartments, instead rent or better, buy a house with an strong fence, (although the owner of the rental will still not be held responsible if your dog gets out), and obtain a top dangerous breed liability policy. California courts will show you NO mercy if the dog ever attacks anyone. In one memorable case, a dog owner got a 15 years-to-life prison sentence and was successfully sued for $1.5 million.
