We have clean driving records, a 2002 Acura MDX, a 2015 Audi A3, full coverage, high liability limits and a 16 year-old male driver. Our rate is $3K/year or $250/mo. This also includes the premium for a $2MM umbrella policy. It was half that prior to the kid getting licensed.

My estimates I've found for moving to LA from NJ has been around $180/mo

2006 BMW 330ci convertible. 27 yrs old with no accidents or speeding tickets the last 5 years. Full coverage

I hope these estimates are overblown.

Did I mention my 150/mo is basically minimal limits required and $1000 deductible collision. Would be around $180 or more full coverage

Every few months, I get online quotes from all the major insurers (Geico, Progressive, 21st Century, Esurance, etc.) and insure with the lowest rates. Why don't you do the same so you don't wonder if you're paying too much?

If you aren't partial to riding dirty as they say, I highly recommend you go with a smaller auto insurer. All the big names are ripping you off and you know it.

Any insurance company that has inundated you with tv or internet ads can only do so by ripping off consumers to fund their big advertising budgets. Do you really think they are passing savings on to you? It goes to bottom line and their advertising budget. You get nothing from that.

Until you actually need to use your insurance. I know people with cut rate insurance like General and Titan and they have been absolutely screwed when they actually had a claim. Things take forever, customer service sucks and/or don't speak English, adjusters low ball claims etc. I have had two claims with Progressive and both were very smooth and they basically handled themselves. I call, they tell you where to bring your car, get rental, car is fixed and back to life as normal. And the difference at least for me would be maybe $10-20/mo savings.

You want an insurance policy with good coverage from a reputable company because you don't want to be at fault in an expensive accident and have people going after your assets (money, cars, house, etc.)

Exactly. It's worth the extra couple dollars a month to go with a big reputable company who also has expensive lawyers. The only reason to go cheap is if you have DUIs and other problems where the big companies won't give you insurance

No longer under 25, but I have had 1 major accident and had my insurance lapse at one point. I'm hoping it goes down honestly because I feel like my insurance should be no more than $100/month.
