I was just wondering if people live in the actual arts district or is it more of just a hangout spot? It reminded me of Brooklyn a bit and I wanted to know if there are cheapish apartments for rent there.

People do live there... A lot of wealthy(some famous) live there.

It is not cheap. There is a lot of money pouring into that area.

People live there, but it's nowhere near cheap. Almost no part of Downtown is cheap anymore.

Damn that's disappointing.... It looks like a prime location for cheap studios converted from those warehouses.

It has gotten so expensive that the artists are getting pushed out. Might not be a real arts district soon.

I don't see the appeal of people living there amongst warehouses, but it's a neat place to visit as there were a few good restaurants/bars in the area.

I def see the appeal... Tons of stuff within walking distance plus the future regional connector. All that culture, food, bars w/ almost no homeless(for downtown). A couple breweries, driving distance to nice hills and other recreation.

I think it's a super legit spot

There was a poster here that lived downtown a few years back. I can't remember if it was you. They claimed it was reasonably affordable up until maybe 3-4 years ago. At least compared to everything west of downtown (you got way more for your money.)

This is why I'm infatuated with the area (or more with Little Tokyo, the next neighborhood over, thanks to the food.) It's super walkable, and I guess you pay a premium for that.
