Yes. That surprised me too when I visited but Chicago has surprisingly a pretty sizeable Mexican population.

How do you Angelenos not know this? I thought you guys were the authority on all things Mexican?

Hoagies? I think you have your cities confused. Chicago is definitely known for pizza and hot dogs, but there is such a variety of food there. Lots of Poland immigrants too. And plenty of other countries. And yes, Mexicans.

Yeah see that's what I think these Westside guys think the good Mexican food is. The tacos, horchata and other street food you can get at the mom and pop taquerias. I'm talking about the next level stuff you can get in the east; 4 mole sauces with lamb, pork, chicken and beef. Stuff that I have yet to see anywhere else. Not to knock the food west but it's just not anywhere near the class of Mexican food you can get in the predominately Mexican areas.
