If anything the whites with more money prefer gentrified areas closer to a city's prime location. The poorer ones move further out!
I know many young white people living in Silver Lake, Echo Park, Highland Park etc. The ones that have kids are moving to areas with good public schools unless they have money for private schools. I knew a couple who were living in East LA. They stayed for one year once their oldest kid started school then they decided to move back to Kansas where they were from because of schools.

LA on the whole is not getting whiter. Downtown and some other parts are, but the mixes get shuffled around in any metropolitan areas over time, I guess. I suppose that the white-invasion thing is over-perceived because lighter-skinned Asians (whose numbers in the county - maybe all of it - are increasing) don't register strongly as non-white to many people. Meanwhile, some areas that most people already don't think highly of or are geographically inconvenient are becoming more Latino, which the media certainly isn't going to catastrophize about.

That's gentrification. It's no longer Pookie the friendly neighborhood hop head, who's just looking under your car because he mistook a pebble for a crack rock.

Pookie is now a menace to society, who creeps white mom's out when they take Skyler and Apple for stroll with the dog. The police must come and handle pookie and intimidate his landlord into 86ing him.

That's the typical mindset of most of that kind. In the minds of most of them, an old neighborhood is plagued with crime and drugs.

Pookie sounds like a real community asset and muse. That "kind" of people sure are crazy for not seeing that a grown man looking under a car for a crack rock enhances the community experience and enriches the lives of Skyler and Apple. Surely other "kinds" of people (Asian, Hispanic, etc.) would embrace Pookie as a beloved community leader and never worry when good 'ole Pookie is sitting on their car outside. It is just that "kind" that expects some semblance of order in their immediate neighborhood. White people are so racist with their standards.

If they call the cops because someone is simply passing by the street.

So essentially they moved out if they could not afford to stay in a nice area or send their children to private school. Meaning they weren't well established in a good career here.

Though to judge we would also need to go over statistics. Not to invalidate the experiences of your friends, but they may be just a part of a bigger picture.

The thing that is kind of funny about this issue is that whites end up getting blamed for gentrifying neigborhoods , like in echo park and highland park ... Or moving into majority black neigborhoods like Leimart park or Hyde park ..But then they also get blamed for not moving into certain areas "enough"

Sure they aren't thrilled about moving to Compton , but neither are most blacks or Hispanics if they can afford a better area

They often go to Burbank which is the closest place to SL and EP with great schools.

Generally, people with kids don't remain in LAUSD areas, regardless of ethnic composition of those areas. Obviously there are exceptions.

Who are all these people calling cops on Pookie? When I lived in neighborhoods covered by LAPD they barley responded 50% of the time I called them.
