You want your front and backyard? Or do you just prefer to simply be as close to everything as possible and don't care about a yard because the whole city is your backyard?

I want to be an urbanite, but my needs/wants for myself and my family on our budget keep us in the suburbs. we're in the valley near the 101 though, so it's not like i'm way out in suburbia. i'd definitely prefer to be on the other side of the hill though, if for nothing more than the cooler summer temps.

Suburban.

I like have L.A. available, but I don't care for the city (day to day) life. A loft is cool, big windows, open floor plan, brick...but I'd like a yard, easy parking and just... room to breathe.

I do miss great restaurants from when I lived in the city, but really that's about it.

Suburban. Really can't stress urban life anymore, despite my age.

mixture of both. There are parts of L.A. that have detached homes that are in walkable-semi walkable communities. Parts of Mid Wilshire are like that.

That's another thing I miss. Being able to walk places.

It's true, certain parts of L.A. are extremely walk-able.

yeah, it depends on the hood. My old hood of midcity is semi walkable with detached homes. I used to be able to walk to the corners store, dozens of eateries, laundry mats, cell phone stores, barbershops, grocey stores. Everything for day to day stuff but bars.

I prefer suburban environments where there's a bit more space and quiet as well as trees and nature, but that are also a relatively quick drive to shops, restaurants, grocery stores, etc.

Luckily in LA, you could live in more dense, urban areas like Koreatown and Hollywood and have relatively close access to nature such as Griffith Park. That being said, I find urban areas to generally be too congested and noisy depending whether you are. Also, if you want to raise a family, it seems like suburban areas generally are better with more area for kids to play. At least in LA, suburban areas are close to urban areas so you can live somewhere more quiet and laid back but still be within close driving distance to amenities in urban areas.

I'm sort of both. Currently living in an urban neighborhood where I can easily access places by walking, but I sometimes like to be in suburban areas that are tranquil.

From residing in South Central Los Angeles my whole life, I welcome a change of scenery.

Urban. I don't want to take care of a yard or have to drive for 30 minutes just to get to a neighborhood where there are things to do. I love living in a walkable area, and I also ride my bike a lot so I have a lot of great things within minutes of my yard-free condo. And I have great city views, which is something you really can't get in the 'burbs. Having all that space is a great thing that's rare in an urban setting, but the suburbs feel stifling to me.
