Hi everyone,

I live in north SD. I'm heading on a trip that will take me to Washington state for a day, then to Santa Monica, then back home. I was thinking of hopping on Amtrak to Oceanside to save the hassle of the airport or driving in traffic but it seems mid-day or late day traffic from SM to Union Station can be at least an hour. I might as well just drive back home in a rental (~2 hours).

So, what's the verdict? Get a rental when I get to LAX and drive home, head south to the airport and catch a flight, or just drive it?

Leaning toward the latter at this point unless someone can suggest a good way to catch the Amtrak.

thx

There's the flyaway bus which is a direct bus ride between lax and union station, but I'd just drive.

Yeah, given the drive from SM to Downtown, I'd just bite the bullet and drive the whole way. You could take public transport, but it will take ages with all the transfers.
