Sure Santa Clarita is a city, but not THE city. El Centro is a city too. So is Moorpark.

Ok. Sounds good. We live in FamilyVille, OR then.😏 It meets our needs but yeah, we would love to take our kids to LA for music, great neighborhoods, museums, food and all the beach towns are amazing! SoCal is like another state to me since I grew up in SF. Plus, a few good friends of mine moved to LA and I would love to see them regularly.

if you can afford it, i'd switch focus from santa clarita to the thousand oaks area. thousand oaks (and environs) is much closer to the beach, more liberal, and has some of the best public schools in the state.

Ok. I thought Thousand Oaks was next to Simi Valley, which I always think of as extremely conservative. I will check it out, though. Thank you.

It's funny how much people worry about conservative/liberal titles. I've lived all over SoCal from supposedly liberal areas to conservative areas. What do people care about? Low crime, good schools, "affordable" housing and a reasonable commute to work.

Nobody cares about your political or religious views unless you're the kind of person that has to constantly preach about something. I don't know what political affiliations my neighbors have other than the occasional sign during election season, nor do I know what party most of my friends belong to. Really, most people here seem more libertarian than anything else.

I think SoCal may be a bit different than other places in regards to politics. Now that I have lived in OR a while, and now OUTside of Potland, I def. notice many tea party types not appreciating my Obama sticker. The conservatives here are much more conservative and the liberals are much more liberal. I am used to living next to Republicans and have friends that are moderate Republicans but I don't really want to live somewhere where my family is completely outnumbered. I am getting the feeling that the "conservative" places are actually more moderate. Yeah, I have no desire to talk to my neighbors about abortion. I generally try to have boundaries with my neighbors.

I was just going to suggest the same thing...well, to at least consider Thousand Oaks,. I'm relocating back to So. CA and these 2 areas are our focus as well. Ventura Co. has some perks like lower income tax but many really good schools as well. Simi and Moorpark would work for the things you stated are important to you. And, it's about 8-10 degrees cooler on any given day.

I couldn't agree more. I've lived all over, and I get a bit tired of the religious-conservatisms where I am now, but the longer I'm here the more I realize there are plenty of people that think like me, and they are from all walks of life and political affiliation. It's hardly an issue in So. CA.
