Moved from East Coast New England suburbs to LA

You also have to consider lifestyle and what you are doing in your free time and for recreation. We spend our time outdoors hiking, cycling etc so we have no reason to get in the car on the weekends and sit in traffic most of the time

Totally get and respect that. I'm just suggesting that if the OP said she was coming from, say, Concord she'd have a different set of references than if she was coming from, say, Somerville.

I respect that Ryanms3030 enjoys Santa Clarita so much, and I know others that do as well, but I'd probably put a gun to my head just because of the commute alone (to anywhere).

I know everyone has his own opinions and ultimately it is your choice. Which areas you liked to commute to Glendale especially when living with family?

I visited Santa Clarita today. I liked most of the apartments in Valencia.
