Youre right. And while I don't want to make this thread about Atlanta, it's worth noting how surprised I am at the natural beauty here. Its drastically understated. I never knew, even from visiting, how hilly and woodsy this place is. There are houses on hilltops like those I saw and loved in California...along with gorgeous waterfronts and roads that cut through mountainous terrain. The whole area is pretty much built in a forest
I agree, this doesn't need to be an Atlanta post, and it will be my last reference, but since your on here, make sure when you get a change to take a visit to Charleston, SC (Spring or Fall to avoid Humidity). Absolutely beautiful and charming Southern City, great waterfront and seafood, historical downtown area is wonderful too. While there, drive out to Isle Of Palms, beautiful beach across the bay from downtown, nice drive through Mt. Pleasant then Isle of Palms. One of my favorite Beaches anywhere.

I live in Cobb County, GA but LA was my previous home.
I remember enjoying your posts last summer as I lived vicariously through you.
During your experience with the fire my family was also posting pictures and videos
of their evacuation from Santa Clarita. That was pretty intense!
Even though things did not work out I am glad that you made it to the A-T-L.
I love the Sandy Springs area. Welcome to GA & I hope your family really loves it here!

Best of luck.

Quite interesting how life changes so quickly lol. Just days after my last post on this thread, the company I was working for in Reseda closed for business. From there, my family and I were thrown into quite a dramatic tailspin. I'd taken this offer over others and of course by the time this occurred those options were no longer available. I then got a crash course on the futility of job hunting in L.A. while driving for Uber. Meanwhile, each school district that had initially expressed interest in my wife(Burbank USD, Palmdale SD, and LAUSD) later revealed that they didn't actually have a vacancy at all and were just compiling a pool of candidates.

Bills got more and more behind and eventually we were served an eviction notice. This particular management company gives you 10 days before filing and the only way to stop the process is pay an additional $700 with the back due rent. I tried find a more affordable option before the eviction was reported to our credit but was unable to find anything half decent for less than the $2000 we were already paying for a two bedroom apartment.

I SAID ALL THAT TO SAY...despite our issues I fell in love with the L.A. area. Such a diverse natural landscape...mountains, beaches, palm trees...neighborhoods built into hills...great weather, ethnic and religious philosophical diversity.

L.A has it all, but it isn't a good fit for everyone. She charges quite a high price for her beauty and makes it clear when she doesn't like you. We just decided to follow the signs eventually and left. Not before my Lincoln MKS was totaled in an accident lmao. All in all, I can understand why so many people dislike L.A. I saw the good and the bad...but I also don't understand why the area isn't equally lauded for what it offers.

We decided to give Atlanta a shot and things are working out quite well here. Just thought I'd update the thread.

Oh man, sorry to hear for your difficulties, but your attitude seems amazing and it is great to hear that you have landed on your feet. I have family in Atlanta and visit very often (2-3x per year) and it is amazing to see how much the city has changed. There is so much to do, so many new bars, restaurants etc.

It is a very green city and if you drive a bit north, you will be in the Blueridge mountains, which are gorgeous. Good luck! It is a very affordable place, where hopefully you are less stressed.

I am curious, what line of work are you in? How come the company shut down so fast?

My apologies for such a late response - I'm just now seeing the last two comments.

I'm a career salesman and serial entrepreneur so I'm used to big risks. When we moved to L.A. I started working as a Senior Healthcare Recruiter in Reseda...they made me an offer on the spot just 2 days after we arrived, so I accepted. I believe what shut them down was poor management. The owner of the business, who'd made it successful years prior, had become mentally ill. His wife stepped in to help, but she lacked the skills needed to keep it afloat.

Currently, I work for a software company here in Atlanta. I was hired here one month after landing at Hartsfield-Jackson with my family and things are going great! I was just promoted 2 months ago and we're now in the process of repairing our credit to buy a home.

Thanks to all for the kudos and positivity on this post
