Do you really think it's safe and a good idea to live with roommates? I mean how do you even go about finding a good roommate? If you find a roommate online how do you know if you'll actually like them once you move in with them? Do you meet them in person first before deciding weather or not you want to move in the place?

No you could not find an apt for 500-800. My son lives in midtown Sacto, 400 sf apt in old building and pays $1,100/mo.
