So do you think it's safe to look on Craigslist? How would you know whether or not something is a scam?

Make sure you actually see the room first before handing over any money, even for the credit check. Fraudsters often copy the photos from existing ads, and use them for scams.

People still do credit checks even if you are just renting a room? Wow....

Yes. It's not uncommon. Most of the time they won't, but remember they want to be on the safe side just as much as you. Also, didn't you say in another thread that you are 29? How do you not have any credit?

You should probably get started on that. How have you been renting apartments and doing everything else that requires credit? You can get excellent rewards just for making purchases on credit cards, and never pay interest. I only use my debit card for ATM withdrawals.

I'm just asking questions to learn what's the harm in that? I enjoy talking on this forum. I never said anything was set in stone is there a problem with me asking questions?

Yes you are right about that and I am I stated in my other thread that I got pre-approved for credit with a magazine company.
