Well there were small groups of Chinese, Blacks always but basically for the times that the modern large communities started are:
There has always been Mexicans/Hispanics and Native Americans since the founding of the city
-Whites came in the late 19th century
-Blacks came from the south (Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Mississippi) after WWII, African Immigration started in late 90s
-The large Asian population started after in 1965 they were allowed to come to the US in big numbers, but before that there were small Chinese and Japanese populations all the way to Newport Beach
- The first large Middle Eastern/Muslim immigration wave to SoCal was in the late 70s/early 80s with the Persians

While there were mosques elsewhere in the USA I don't think Los Angeles had them pre'70s
It's hard to know and keep track as you know U.S government don't track immigrants back in 1800s
Middle Eastern are categorize as White Race and some of the Middle Eastern especially Syrians and Lebanese they look like White Europeans .

The Muslim community dates to Syrians who settled in the Cedar Rapids area in the late 1800s, and Mother Mosque formally opened in 1934 in the midst of the Great Depression. The area is also home to the Muslim National Cemetery, whose land in honor of military servicemen who fought in World War II.
Today Cedar Rapids is home to three mosques. Mother Mosque operates more as a cultural center for non-Muslims, while the nearby Islamic Center of Cedar Rapids is main center for prayer and religious services some 2,000 Muslim families in the Cedar Rapids area, Tawil explains. Only about 1% of Iowans are Muslim, mirroring the national average, according to the Pew Research Center.

I am sure back then in L.A they are tiny Muslim community in L.A E.g. Nation Of Islam . FYI Mohamed Ali the greater boxer built a mosque in L.A

In the 2020 census and from there on Middle Easterners (Persians, Arabs, Kurds) will be seperated from the White category in the census (therefore all government classifications)
Of course its not official till Congress approves it but sources in the census say its pretty sure to pass
Makes sense though, Ive never heard of anyone say middle eastern people are white (especially since 9/11) , they obviously have a completely different history and unique ethnic culture than Europeans

There are significant diaspora populations in Europe, North America, the Far East and East Africa), Around 62% of the world's Muslims live in the Asia-Pacific region (from Turkey to Indonesia), with over 1 billion adherents
FYI there is Blacks Muslim community in the United States way before you are born
You need to be educated on this !
Case in point. Friends of my parents when I was growing up - Lithuanian Muslims.

Over on the other coast - a Mosque in Brooklyn where services are done in Polish.

Hmmmm ... Kurds ... one of the most ancient Caucasian ethnic groups on the planet. They vie with Armenians for that title.

Sadly, even here in the USA, so called White Nationalists define "White" to mean solely Protestants of Northwestern European ethnic background. Now to be fair, due to the decline of their old core demographic, they have begrudgingly opened up to certain Slavic people. But to them, olive skin, or anything hinting at Semitic features, is a disqualification. Give 'em a good ole "Sieg Heil!" -

Versus ... initial colonization by Imperial Spain?
