I wouldn't be suprised if the jerrys in Encino closes down next.

delis suck. the food is never that great and it's super expensive. $10 for a bowl of matzo soup, $18-20 for average sandwiches. usually with grumpy service and dirty atmosphere.

jerrys was the worst of them all, the priciest and least tasty...

anyway, most common sense people prefer coffee shops which are half the price. sure they dont have matzo, lox, and pastrami but they got the rest...

So if I want the above where should I go?

Deli's are awesome. Canter's and Langer's are LA institutions.

Vince's deli in Pasadena, New York Deli in Eagle Rock are both awesome and definitely not $20 for a sandwich.

New York Famous Deli

What coffee shop can I buy something like that in??

Next you're going to say Father's Office is overpriced and people should just go to coffee shops instead.

you can get lox and pastrami at a lot of places now. just usually not both at the same time.

I know a coffee shop I can get a bagel and lox for $7, vs $15-17 at a typical deli. Tastes the same too.

I get delis have a certain comfort factor and they have big menus. Some like izzys and canters are open 24/7 too. But they are really expensive for what they offer.

We used to go to the one in Costa Mesa by South Coast Plaza. Unfortunately the food was ok. we went a few times but the food just wasn't that great.
