Hopefully some better options than Garcetti..but we will see.

I'd like to see someone with less of a leftist ideology and agenda but probably not realistic since it's L.A

Candidates planning to challenge Eric Garcetti, Joe Buscaino, Mike Bonin step forward

Both Barr and Schwartz have experience running businesses, which definitely helps. Something Garcetti does not have - I don't think he has ever worked in the private sector. While both Barr and Schwartz are liberals, Barr somehow seems like he's not as far left as Schwartz or Garcetti - he advocates school choice and education reform and wouldn't kowtow to the teachers' union.

Yehuda Draiman sounds great but I doubt he has a chance. YJ Draiman for Mayor of Los Angeles 2017 - YJ Draiman for Mayor 2017

Mark Ryavec has stuck up for the Venice community against the homeless hordes and has opposed Garcetti's capitulation to the homeless. He would be a wonderful choice as Councilman. I don't know about the other candidates.

Zuma Dogg is entering the race. I know he's run in the past but he's calling out Garcetti as a radical.

Zuma Dogg seems pretty crazy..but at this point maybe we'd do better with him than Garcetti.
http://lamayor2017.com/

His statement on Garcetti
") But, we've known Eric, for years...he .may have been liberal, when he invited Occupy to stay as long as they'd like. But, he's taken an extreme,, radical turn, it seems, to me. Said he respected the way protestors were talking to streets. (As they shut 101 freeway; set fires; threw rocks at cops; stole cops' gun.) He said (if people don't like what Trump does), "We'll act up and act out." Is he mayor of a municipality, or municipal jihadist? He doesn't say to STOP! He kisses their ass. Why? (I have my theories, of course). Wonder if it hits you, this way, too. Way for mayor to **** off new POTUS. He said he's, "proud that people are protesting in favor of love over hate." They are protesting Trump, so, Eric is calling him, "hate." Then, Eric says he reached out to Trump. Lol. Eric's comments are gonna hurt L.A. w FEDS, and L.A. needs FED money!"

From his Twitter
Declared candidate for the #LosAngeles #Mayor2017 election (on 03.07.17). Sorry, Eric. I couldn't STOP myself. You're too shady. http://LACityNow.com

Most of the Rich to Upper Middle Class people I know in 90068 love Garcetti.

Plus, he has that solid Latino vote. He's not going anywhere just like Villaraigosa.

They are his people. The only people he can relate to. 90068 is close enough to his 90027 home turf.

Here in 90066 there's a lot of apathy and no overwhelming support for Garcetti, given how much he's bungled the whole homeless issue. Maybe some of the folks on Mar Vista Hill love him. Not here down the hill where the differences between south of the border and this side of the border are as clear as night and day. (I wonder if Garcetti's less popular in the part of 90068 that borders on 91505, or in the part of 90027 that's closer to 91204.) He's definitely vulnerable

None of those candidates in that link are a threat to him and he knows it. The Rich and Poor Latino communities love him as do the Rich White folks. These are the people that vote the most in this state. I just don't see him losing his seat anytime soon.

If you live right by the LA City borders and you see how much nicer people have it south of the border than in LA, you're not going to be too favorable to the people running L.A.

I bet the people in 90068 who are right by the borders of LA City know things are much nicer north of the border....

You're probably right, I just don't see Garcetti going anywhere.

The homeless issue could easily be his undoing.
