Last year we had a horrible summer as far as heat goes, but as soon as November rolled around we got nice cool weather in abundance. This year the summer was mild for the most part so we're being punished by the weather gods with this horror show in November.

I am guessing that you are new to living in the Los Angeles coastal desert? While any individual day might set the highest since 19xx nothing is out of the ordinary for the local climate like waking up to a foot of snow in the basin would be.

Actually, the heat wave last year continued into November. I remember because I wanted to attend something in the valley and decided to not do so on account of the weather.

Seattle is freaking out because it's in the 70's and clear skies. Normally at this time of year, it's in the 50's and 40's, dark and rainy. The southern Rockies are unusually warm, too. It's usually getting ready to snow right about now.

Weather temperatures fluctuate.

As for Seattle, it is in the midst of a La Nina and it may even snow this Christmas even if the chance of that event is still very small.
