LA's planning process is a mess, to that I can agree. But this measure is disastrous for LA's economy and affordability and clearly is backed by wealthy NIMBY's who are exploiting the poor to push a personal agenda.

Yeah, my neighborhood is mostly retired or empty nester, wealthy people, and the proponents have been out in force campaigning here. I was doing yard work last weekend and noticed the campaigner only stopped at the houses owned by white people. He only walked up to about 7 houses on my block. He had a list of voters names and he skipped the houses owned by Japanese Americans, Filipino Americans, Hispanic Americans, and Armenian Americans. He came up to me but I told him I thought Measure S is a bad idea. At least in my neighborhood, their target demographic is wealthy white people. Probably not a bad strategy, as that's the group most likely to vote, and the one most in favor of the initiative. Hopefully enough have the good sense to reject it.

It was by a voter list with names, not them visualy inspecting the house occupants. When I said they were targeting whites, I meant US born American whites with traditional Northern European surnames and English first names like myself and my neighbors whose houses they walked up to instead of skipping.

My post wasn't looking to start a debate about what groups should technically qualify as white, since race is pretty much a made up thing anyway. I was just surprised when I saw the guy completely skip more than half the houses on my block.
