Is it true that in 2021 the minimum wage will be $15.00 per hour in LA? So basically for any job the employer will have to pay the employees $15.00 per hour? Even if it's a basically job?

And the cost of living will go up to reflect this, and the number of minimum wage jobs could go down. Does this mean you will be asking about being a dental assistant for 4 more years?

From how many angles is OP trying to approach moving to California on a low income? If she could put her obsession with L.A. aside and become good at what she does, maybe that'd eliminate the need? Just a thought...

Rent will likely go up too when min wage goes up.
Service people that work on apartment buildings will demand higher wages too .

Yep....That's how it's gonna work.

It won't apply to illegal aliens, though. Which is good.

And don't forget Trump is against it and might well find a way to get it repealed.

And that pay is not as good as it seems. Nothin California, where the col is crazy absurdly high.

People have been getting fifteen an hour to flip burgers for Mickey D's in North Dakota for three years now!

The law shouldn't apply to kids living at home, the new California minimum wage rate. It's too high. Some high schooler living with mom and dad doesn't deserve it. The law should only apply to heads of households, which would include a single person living alone. If this were the case I'd be in favor of it. But if the law is for everybody then I would vote against it.

What will happen is they are going to higher the more experienced fast food workers for these jobs and give them more responsibility . They'll let the machines and robots handle most of the rest .

People with degrees are already working for $15 or even less it's not like everyone with a college degree makes $100,000 in L.A

Yes. Exactly.

Sure it will. The homies at Home Depot aren't going to work for peanuts anymore. Not that they do anymore anyway

He can't do anything about it. It's a city wage and contrary to popular belief he can't magically snap his fingers and make it go away. Unles you're talking about FEDERAL MINIMUM WAGE he has no control over state or local wages.

15 bucks a hour is 30k a year.

That's because a minuscule amount of people want to live in ND and it takes a higher wage to get people to move/live there. Not to mention your example us skewed because of the oil money influx to the local economy. Because pre oil boom I guarantee that the wages were a lot lower. You need to attract employees and the only way is by offering higher wages. Either way as the wages go up the COL goes up too. You're not going to have high wages and low COL.

What difference does it make? You can't have one minimum wage for one person and another for another person based on their position in a family unit.
