Depends what you consider to be "safe". It is an up-and-coming area, and perfectly livable if you are used to an urban environment. But you will see homeless people daily, there are drugs in the neighborhood, and it is a rare night when you don't hear sirens.

If you can handle that, then it is no problem. Get a good Thai meal a block away!

And then go a block in the other direction and get run over by Armenian kids drag racing

It's not my kind of area to live in. I had a friend that lived in that area and it was pretty trashy but didn't have any safety issues.

If it was $545 it was definitely a scam. You won't find a studio in a decent area for under $1000. You probably won't find a roommate situation for less then $800. $545 maybe for an illegal boarding house where you share one room with 4-6 illegal immigrants and drug addicts

I see on site it says rent is $545 -to $952 for the smallest units . Does seem super cheap . Not sure if there is any catch like you have to qualify for an affordable housing unit or something .

I don't think you'll be able to beat that price in the la area if you can actually get a unit for $545

Sharing a room with illegal immigrants and drug addicts could be rebranded as a "multi cultural experience "

I mean isn't that the great thing about L.A ? Diversity ! Some people don't follow our laws but they are still human so they should be treated just the same .
