Canadian Moving to LA..Suggestions (West Hollywood, Westwood: living, law, airport)

Hey Guys

I am a Canadian guy moving to LA from Vancouver. I have been to LA a few times and have enjoyed the areas that I have stayed in, West Hollywood/Miracle Mile/Westwood, and the life style is appealing. I am coming from a good position at a Law firm here in Vancouver, but looking to get a job in marketing or PR just in and entry level position and work my way up. I have been reading lots of these forums and was wondering if anyone has any advice for me on moving, a Canadian getting a job in LA, I am hoping to be able to get a job with a company and that they will sign a Visa if I qualify, and the possibilities of getting a second job in the service/hospitality industry. I know this sounds like the common move to LA story, but just looking for a change and any information that you can offer me is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Unlike most other countries, it's relatively easy for Canadians to get a work visa for the US. It's a TN-1 visa that you'll need.

All you need is to get a job offer from a US company for a position that is no longer than 365 days and is one of the "approved" TN jobs. Google for TN-1, and you'll find the list of approved jobs you can fill.

Once you get your job offer, simply head to an international airport or US border and you'll get your TN-1 visa on the spot.

Do some research on Google to learn more.

Naturally, you may have some difficulties in getting a job while living out-of-state, but I believe there are some other threads on how to deal with that.
