I was very young when this was filmed, but I wish I could have gone to high school with them. I attended Uni in West L.A. and at the time there were a lot of bus-ins from the other side of town -- culture clashes often made the school feel alienating and uncomfortable. I'll never forget the time when I was walking up a flight of stairs and had the hat I was wearing ripped right off my head, never to see it again. And of course, none of the people from the other side of town who were walking behind me in a great big herd would tell be who took it.

Seems like people had more a sense of humor back then .
Now everyone is freaked out about saying anything that could be politically incorrect and they might get sued of shamed or fired or all three .

Wow I must have missed that one. Good old Rich and good old KABC.

Now to be fair I did not move to SoCal until fall of '81 ... depending on when that aired, that may explain why I never saw it.

'81 was 2nd half of HS Senior year and 1st half of college Freshman year for me.

In any case I'll have to pass this along to my friends who went to Rolling Hills.

About $73,000 in today's money. But think of how much less housing was back then .

Contemporaneous article about the housing market in 1981. The high cost of housing in California is a story as old as time. Btw, the Reagan home referenced in the article recently sold for $22 million.

HOUSING BOOM GOES BUST IN LOS ANGELES - NYTimes.com
That is a great article I remember reading it a little while back .
L.A real estate has had an incredible run and has made many people with modest incomes millionaires.
Timing has been important of course .
