Do you have any other debt now? If not, you could find a way to live alone and make do on 60k if you are frugal.

I am very frugal and I value money so right now I think $60k would be enough. The rent though is the one that kills the most.
I agree with Mr_Geek. It can be done. You just won't be livin' it up!

No debt. It's just the ones I mentioned that I should be worrying about. Basically necessities.

It's doable then. Especially if you can manage to not own a car somehow. That'll save you.

5. SlingTV or PS Vue subscription *optional*
6. Used car payment and insurance
7. Gas (car) *not so much since renting near work would be top priority so there's an option to just walk to/from work*

Would that salary be enough for a single guy?
You can definitely live by yourself on a 60k salary. I pull it off with much less in the Fairfax district (really nice area, very safe, close to the Grove, Melrose etc...).
You don't have to go all the way to Santa Clarita to live in decent places in the LA area with that budget if you don't feel the need to have a flashy and ostentatious lifestyle.

Venice Beach and its surrounding areas are called "Silicon Beach", I'd suggest you look into areas such as Palms and Culver City

If you can get an IT job that is done 100% remotely, then you'd be golden.
