Last thing we need here...or anywhere. More drunks on the road killing each other and innocent souls. Stay home if you NEED to imbibe.

I'm a party person and i'm also laid back, but honestly never been the type to party out till 4am...Even when i'm in Vegas i'll be in bed at around 2am at the latest...I'm a human and my brains/body needs sleep.

I always found it odd how some people think partying till 4am,5am,6am,etc is considered cool and waking up with a hangover as awesome fun.

L.A is a party place for all types and ages, but it's also a working place where people need to get up in the morning, but for those of you who are Night Owls and enjoy sleeping in till the afternoon and partying till the sun rises with blood red eyes, then Vegas is just beyond those Mountains.

There is no correlation between later last calls and higher fatalities due to drunk driving.

The number of people who drink and drive is relatively constant, and not related to time: they will drink until 2am and drive, or stay until 4am and drive.

IF you move last call to later in the morning, it would lessen the sales spikes of alcohol around last call. Plenty of people will quickly buy one or two or three drinks just before last call and then the place closes and they get on the road. That is a recipe for disaster and that is the status quo.

We shouldn't criminalize a certain time of the day, the focus should be on curbing drunk driving, no matter what time of the day it is.

I want to correct something I stated previously that is not correct: the statewide last call at 2am has been in place since 1935, not World War II as I stated before.

Who cares? Dont you get tired? I do by 1am. Going to bed earlier is better for your health. Just go out earlier and come home earlier, and you can sleep. You dont need to stay out all night.

Public transit actually starts up again at those early hours, so the later last call is actually a plus. 2AM tends more to strand people.

ETA: I'm kind of surprised at the idea that staying in a bar late can only mean stumbling drunk out of one. That's no more true than going to the neighbors' house only means borrowing something from them. I can only attest for myself that often in the late hours you're just winding out of the evening with friends. Drinking slows down. Bartenders serve coffee too. If you're cautioning about irresponsible drunken behavior, the extra two hours are not going to change it and can in fact offer the time to sober up.

Agreed, but the previous time limitations were nanny statelike and based on a Protestant work ethic. Let people do what they want. It's long past time.

If someone is drinking at 4am, they have a damn problem, and I have a damn problem with the establishment that is open til 4am, serving alcohol to losers who should be at home in bed. Nothing good can come from this. Drunks driving home can cause accidents with those responsible with their lives and going to work in the early hours.
