I wanted to know what others pay on average for their water bill. We just started paying water and sewer along with electricity. I feel our bill is coming out too high. This is the second bill that comes out to about 380.00. I live in a 1 bedroom. 2 adults and 2 small children. We have no washer and dryer so we use the water for just the basic needs

Sounds way too high. I pay about 50 ish a month and have a lawn. Do you have your own water meter?

Don't flush the yellow stuff. Teach the kids the same. If they are old toilets, that's 5 gallons a flush. Shorter showers and turn off the water while sudsing up. No baths. Don't run the faucet to heat the water up. Don't wash dishes with the water running. Clean fruit and vegetables in a bowl of water.

$380 does seem high for a one bedroom with no washer/dryer or landscaping to maintain.

If you're renting, ask your landlord to check for and repair anything that may be affecting your bill, such as hidden leaks.

If you have a separate water meter, it also wouldn't hurt to ask the landlord and your water company to check the meter is only measuring YOUR apartment's use, not others.

If you don't have a separate water meter for your apartment, then the high cost may be due to your landlord "splitting the cost" for your entire complex. There isn't much you can do about that, aside from move.

What part of the bill is water and what part is electricity?

Have you been running the AC a lot ? AC cost can really add up .

Your post makes it difficult to determine if the bill is for one or all three of these utilities.

I lived in Boston, New york, LA and water cost pretty much the same. About $50 for a family of 3.

If it is more than $100, you can call the water company to install a new meter. Also most new meters can detect if there is continuous water going. Maybe there is a leak somewhere so you are constantly using water.

I have a better question. Do any of the OPs ever come back to the threads they start?

It's really annoying when you take the time to respond and they disappear forever.

I looked it up just for fun.

In my corner of South LA, it is about $1 for 132 gallons for the first 11968 gallons.
After that, it is about $1 for 100 gallons after that.

To be technical, it is $5.671 per HCF for the first 16 HCF, then $7.301 per HCF for the next 14 HCF.

So how many gallons would the OP have to use in order to be billed $380?

I'm not in a math mood or I'd try lol
