Starting with me, I'm sure my list will grow over time, but I'll say, it's hard to go wrong with the Getty Center, LACMA, and Huntington Library.

It's also well worth the visit to the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels, Getty Villa, and Olvera Street.

I'm also excited to be checking out the Skirball Cultural Center soon.

No love for the Norton Simon? The Broad?

The Pageant of the Masters in Laguna Beach and Sawdust Festival across the street (plus other art-related activities) are really amazing as cultural attractions.

I'll add the the area California Missions with San Juan Capistrano being the most beautiful one I have seen.

I forgot about the Norton Simon. It's been a few years since I've been there. It's also great.

The missions in SJC and San Gabriel are beautiful.

I'm going to The Broad later this week.

Also, MOCA. Hmmm, thinking...

There are other lesser known spots in the LA area too, for those who are really hungry for art...

Hammer (LA)
Orange County Museum of Art
Bowers Museums (OC)

The Petersen. Nothing says LA more then cars and it's probably the best public collection you'll ever see

The Huntington
Descanso Gardens
The Arboretum
The Getty
California Science Center
LACMA
Griffith Observatory and Travel Town

It's hard to go wrong with any museum or cultural attraction in LA. I think we have the best collection of diverse attractions big and small in the US

I don't consider places in OC to be LA area so I'm not including that. For me Museum of Tolerance, La Brea Tarpits, LACMA, and the Getty Villa. It's also not a museum but the Long Beach Aquarium and the Cabrillo Aquarium.

Excellent choices. A word of warning about the Getty Villa, however -- do NOT use a car with performance suspension, since the road leading to the villa is a Roman replica and un-nervingly bumpy unless you want to half-clutch at 1-2 mph all the way up.

LACMA, I love the summer Saturday afternoon outdoor Latin Jazz concerts. You can bring your own wine, and picnic basket and enjoy the music and scenery. It's a great place to people watch, and every one is having a good time from the kids to the adults. Believe me Its one big party, they even have a place for people to dance. Also they have Friday night jams session, and Sunday's they have classical in the auditorium, and all of this is free.

I also like the Norton Simmon, The Getty, and the Huntington Library. There are so many to choose from, and I pretty much like them all. Long Beach has a couple beautiful museums as well, Long Beach Museum of Art, and Latin American Museum.
