I know there have been some hoping for a YUGE earthquake hoping it brings down housing prices.

That's one way to pop the housing bubble.

I am less worried about surviving the big one, and more worried about surviving until we evacuate or hunkering down until help arrives.

Yeah but if supply of housing went down the habitable houses might actually be more expensive .

I'm willing to take the risk of the San Andreas exploding California off the coast if it means a 3% reduction in housing prices.

The 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake in the SF Bay area, did not do any long term damage to housing prices.

Those who are wishing death & destruction in order ot make money are despicable ( IMO) Having seen first hand the damage a major quake can cause, I don't wish it on anyone. I lived & worked through that quake.
