Saw this today at a gas station on Ventura Blvd and Shoup in Woodland Hills. Public transportation is looking mighty good right about now.

I guess all gas stations are going to have $4 has here in the near future. I commute on a Vespa and spend $15 a month on gas and get around way faster than in a car. I highly recommend this for anyone who is considering switching from 4 wheels down to 2.

Thumbs down UGH! Just in time for my move too!!!

I am on my way (driving) to Los Angeles at the end of April & look at these gas prices. I haven't purchased my vehicle yet & am serious looking at which ones are most fuel efficient (safety being the primary factor though) because I honestly don't know how folks are able to afford these sorts of costs for the daily usage of their vehicles.

Guess I'll have to turn to prayer for my best chance in a reduction of gas prices (do you think we'll ever be down near $1.00 a gallon again? lol)...

What a welcome to my new home!

My advice is to ride a bicycle whenever you are doing small errands. Take the metro to work. For 5 dollars a day you can ride the Metro all day plus you get to exercise more. The Metro usually stops every 10-15 mins at each stop during the busiest hours of the day. I hardly drive my car anymore. I didnt know gas prices were so high until just recently when I watched it on the news. lol Another positive about Los Angeles is that everything that you need is within a 0-5 mile radius of where you live!

How fast does a Vespa go? Do you get to drive between lanes & pass traffic too, like motorcycles?

I'm a safety freak/fanatic - I'd love to save money & the environment by riding a Vespa but I'd have to be medicated 24/7 on high doses of Xanax - which, of course, would be a definite precursor to a major accident! lol

Folks just don't pay enough attention to what's going on while they are driving - they especially don't see motorbikes, vespas, & the like.

As for riding a bike - I am working at being able to ride them again. Severe arthritis in my hips & such make it unbearably painful - but definitely want to be able to ride again.

I sure wish alternative fuel vehicles & those like it were far more affordable for the average person...

i've hit over 60mph on my vespa, but it is also the most powerful version they sell. i think the less powerful models still go 45 or 50. as for driving between lanes, i do it all the time, even right past police cars. i swear it cuts about 25% off the time it would take me to use my car on city streets.

There seems to be a wide variance in gas prices all over Southern California. At a Shell station near me, regular is $3.59 9/10, and has been for a few days. However, the extortionist at the 76 station right off the freeway nearby is selling regular at $3.68 9/10 (down from $3.73 9/10 just last night - whoopee! ). The cheapest I've found is $3.51 9/10 at an ARCO station.

the metro day pass is 5 bucks now? For some reason, I was convinced that 4 years later, it was still 3 bucks, haha.

Never in my life would I have considered myself riding a vespa, but its sounding more and more attractive at this point. Its getting nuts.
