It had nothing to do with Ray's drug use. It had to do with racist paranoia which the RE industry fueled via blockbusting.

The white residents of the Hollywood Hills didn't flee because Ray's contemporary Sam Cooke moved in, but the Hollywood Hills was farther away from black neighborhoods and the residents were probably less prejudiced than those of Windsor Hills.

Yeah that sucks .

Good thing times have changed but it looks like history is repeating itself with people in Boyle Heights and other areas saying they don't want white folks moving in or "white businesses"

I realize it's different than blockbusting etc but still not a good look for the city of L.A
