I’ve posted figures on this forum several times . You are right though the average is likely even more than $450,000

Here is a project in Boyle Heights

The 49-unit project, called Lorena Plaza, would rise on a dusty lot across the street from a Pizza Hut and a cemetery.

“. Lorena Plaza, which would cost about $23 million, would qualify for the funds“

So it works out to $469,387 a unit .

I wonder if tax payers would still be in favor if they realized how much building this housing in L.A is costing?

How about the city council they make over $180,000 each more than the governor even .

I imagine the benefits , perks and kick backs are sweet too .

All for doing what ? Letting the homeless problem get worse and worse and pandering to illegal aliens ?

Maybe they could sacrifice a little for the homeless .

Really why won't anyone do something about this homeless problem in LA? I see it's getting worse especially on skid row. Is it really nothing that can be done? Can't they build homeless shelters?

A lot of the problem is the homeless don’t want to go to the shelters because they know there are rules .
This often isn’t spoken about in the media . There are social workers that go out to the homeless on the street and refuse services .

What some of us have proposed are parts of the state that are more affordable with either existing buildings or where land is cheap and the homeless can live there and they can be trained to do work etc .

This makes the most sense since you could House a lot more homeless than in L.A where it costs about $450,000 or more per unit to build homeless housing as I posted above.

In Brookings, Oregon it is illegal to pass money, food or drugs to people panhandling at the side of the road because it impedes traffic and is a safety hazard.

Anti-panhandling efforts effective;

We need some law and order . What we have in L.A is chaos branded as “tolerance”

People should still be expected to follow rules and laws .. even if they are homeless .

Everyone is so afraid of offending people even criminals or people lowering quality of life in an area .

Thats because the rules are in excess of the rules that anyone else has to follow. Why should the homeless have to concent to not drinking or smoking pot when private citizens do it in their home? Because they were lucky enough to have the money to buy a home?

Lets not kid ourselves thinking these people own homes because they work hard, people get where they are by luck and some work. Most of the hardest working people are poor or lower middle class.

Disagreement? Hardly. They know who they are. They're not interested in discussing the problem rationally, or trying to come up with ways to solve the issue. They just want to stir it up: make condescending comments, deride other posters, and generally cause discord among those posting on this topic.
