When Denver looked into housing several years ago, providing mental health, food, support staff......................it would cost $100,000 per homeless per year. They are so low functioning they require a lot more support than the average person.

No they didn’t find that. No it doesn’t cost that. Post a link to support your impression of the claim and we’ll unravel it to clarify what you might have read in error.

Couldn’t we have the “homeless advocates “ donate their time ? To care for them

I’m sure some must work as mental health professionals etc .

It takes a village !

Many of them already donate their time. Links to that information have been posted (with plenty of ridiculing to follow).

It seems to me that the riducule is always directed from left to right, including in this thread. Time and time again, when arguments are made against helping the so-called homeless in general or opposition is voiced in opposition to helping them in the locations where they are found, ad hominems start flying. (Oops, ad hominem might be too complicated a term, you know, for blue-collar sensibilities.)

I have no idea what that is even supposed to mean...I must be one of those "blue collars"

A Vietnam vet who became a social worker and worked with the homeless in Santa Barbara.

He never gave up on Santa Barbara's homeless people, even as many looked the other way

Why it needs to be a "left" or "right" issue is not clear to me (I must be too "blue collar" as well; forgive me). Ridicule toward people who have helped the homeless? Just scroll back a few pages. Try 229.

“When places send us their homeless , they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.”
