Note that two of us supply links to research, studies, citations of law ... etc.

Meanwhile, dozens who whine and complain about what two of us present ... well, just whine and rant and shout like crazy homeless mentals on street corners do at passersby.

How could this happen ? Since the homeless are harmless ..
Must of been a “transient “ ..

“A homeless man has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon and a hate crime enhancement for alleging attacking an Asian-American man with a rock in downtown Berkeley, prosecutors and police said.”

From the same article as you read down:
Quote:
As with a lot of complicated issues, the devil's in the details," said Hadar Aviram, a constitutional law professor at U-C Hastings in San Francisco.

"This is a rather extreme denial of civil rights, and this is why conservatorships are generally reserved to very, very extreme cases and require a very high level of proof that the person cannot take care of themselves

Aviram says conservatorships could be a very effective tool to help the homeless who really need it, but she cautions they could infringe on a person's rights.

"The concern is that the program is going to expand and that people are going to be swept in that do not deserve to have their civil rights taken away from them. This is not something that should be done lightly, this is something that we should be very, very concerned about," said Aviram.

According to Senator Weiner, the law has been written with safeguards to prevent it from being used too broadly. He estimates 50 to 100 homeless people in San Francisco could be getting the help they need if conservatorships were used right now.
As I said, conservatorships are a great tool ... for a handful of people ... in SF’s case: “50-100” people (out of 7500).

But do go on with your celebration jm.

The source is wrong, the bill does not allow the state to "take custody of anyone", here read the bill:

https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/f...01720180SB1045

The process for "taking custody" of someone who is mentally ill is already state law and it is not being changed FFS. It's right here read it for yourself: https://law.justia.com/codes/califor...5150-5157.html

Interesting points (from another thread):

European nations have free medical and mental healthcare, so that means fewer people become homeless. Plus income inequality is not as extreme.

There's a huge disparity in LA between what a job is going to pay and what housing is going to cost and the government at some point is going to have to deal with this or the homeless problem will end up causing severe economic damage. With that said, LA does have underutilized land where they could build more apartment buildings.
Although we'll need a lot more than apartment buildings.

Who said “the homeless are [always] harmless”?

Meanwhile, hundreds of violent crimes are committed by the general, housed population for every one committed by a homeless person. Should we list - in all fairness - every violent crime that occurs by not-homeless persons, jm?

It looks like one has to worry about random crime from homeless versus being attacked by gang members in L.A these days .
Gang members typically target other gang members ..

These attacks are completely unprovoked... yet the homeless advocates think the status quo is fine ..
