Not all homeless are the same, some homeless are on the streets simply because they don't have a job but they are capable of working, if they get into transitional or temporary housing they have a better chance of getting a job because they will have access to showers and won't stink when they show up for job interviews. The elderly, disabled and mentally ill probably need supportive housing for the rest of their lives. People with serious substance abuse problems are less likely than any other group to remain in housing even when it's offered so probably the best solution is to give them a clean bed to sleep in at night so that law enforcement can legally stop them from creating sidewalk encampments.

As far as HUD rapid rehousing, think about it for a minute. That program is usually offered to homeless families, they are basically given a free or very low rent rental for 3-9 months. The rent is market rate so the minute that voucher expires the family is on the hook for the full monthly rent. Let's assume that market rent for a 2 bedroom apartment is $2,000 a month. If they were to spend half of their gross salary on rent they would need to have a gross annual income of $48,000. How does a family go from sleeping in a car to earning $48,000 a year in 3-9 months?
so everything but HUD rapid rehousing is unacceptable? got it... The family's sleeping in their cars might not agree with you though...

I wonder what this could mean for the supreme and district courts relative to the "homeless" situation in LA and nation wide .... There's hope for the homeless! Can you imagine if the financial dreams of the left are shattered by a more ethical and compassionate scotus than Ruth and sotomayor envisioned?

Making fun of Ruth Bader Ginsberg's hospitalization after her fall? That's really sad.

She fell spiritually a long long time ago - I'm betting she lacks the integrity to resign as she should....nobody cares if you think it's sad or not; there's hope for the homeless and our communities- that's what matters .

Ad hominem? It’s humor. Have a glass of wine and relax tonight OC. The rest of us will take it from here

Enlighten us and fully explain how after her retirement (if she chose to do so) there would be hope for the homeless and our communities.

No need to worry everyone , Newsom will help us out with the homeless problem .

Look at his great success when he was Mayor of San Francisco and his great work as lieutenant Governor .

Actually on second note did he even mention the homeless during his victory speech?
I heard a lot of pandering and sob stories about illegal aliens though .

Don’t know if you’ve noticed, but the poster you are asking to engage in dialogue ... pretty doesn’t participate in debate to explain his outbursts. So you’re pretty much going to be left scratching your head over his comments.
