Oh yeah it’s never the homeless that commit crimes it’s always those “transients “ ... so you think LAPD officers don’t know a homeless person when they see one ?

I'm pretty sure they don't even look anymore. Think about the robberies alone- staggering. The vagrants can just come in and shoplift whatever they want: nobody will stop them, they won't get arrested much less prosecuted. Same thing with car and home break ins- protected just like illegal camping and trash disposal....the list of crimes they are encouraged to commit goes on on on..

Oh, and pointing out that the issues surrounding homelessness are near identical from one city to the next is also very tiresome.
Thanks for posting the truth here. It's apparently easier to just complain about the homeless, demean them, and shoot holes through anyone's ideas or plans to do something to alleviate the problem.

You are confusing "vagrant" with "homeless." They are not the same, despite the fact that this has been pointed out to you several times.

Mayor Eric Garcetti was forced to halt a speech Monday at USC after demonstrators began shouting at him and criticizing his approach to the city’s homelessness crisis, the Los Angeles Police Department’s use of force and other issues.

As he spoke, protesters quietly started singing “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town,” but with the verses, “You better watch out, you better not cry, Eric Garcetti is telling us lies, human rights violations happening now.”

These protesters are right! Whether or not you were born with mental illness or acquired it from other circumstances like frying your brain on meth- you are unable to care for yourself and that's harmful and inhumane- these people are being used as slaves for this awful homeless money grab- technically they have the right to be be treated humanly in 100 percent secured, supervised facilities with tiered care and with more care than the streets, parks and washes provided

Who ever said that crimes are never committed by homeless persons? Wherever there are people living in desperate circumstances there’s going to be crimes committed.

As for LEO’s knowing homeless when they see them ... pretty much in the ball park, sure. But your article says
Quote:
The descriptions of perpetrators in the reports as homeless are not conclusive, as they depend on the perception of the person reporting the crime, according to city and other officials.
... and the LEO’s aren’t the “persons reporting the crimes”. They are taking reports from victims and witnesses.

Looks like LA gets to pay for a new "deputy mayor"- just for the vagrants!!!!-- wonder what the arrangement is? since more and more are being released from prison and not being incarcerated as they once were- more will flock to theSF and LA prosecution-free zones. Expect more and more extreme crime and degeneration of more neighborhoods as the vagrants scour the land for stuff to steal and people and businesses to rob and harm. Wonder how much she will be paid ?
The comments in the comments section are SPOT ON- think the new czar of the vagrants will implement those simple, perfectly legal and effective solutions to improve the quality of life for EVERYONE?? She would be out of a job then.. so probably not

No, I think every cop in LA knows a homeless person when they see one, but they don't let the officers decide who is homeless. When they arrest someone they are required to use the same descriptor for both a homeless person and a person who refuses to state their address which makes any claim that the people who committed these crimes were all homeless inaccurate.

Why would they skew the numbers? My guess is that it's a handy dandy way to get the City Council to approve hiring more cops. I could be wrong, but for those of you who live in LA you might want to see if a request for additional personnel shows up on the agenda in the next several months.
