The DMV never sent a new license as a result of an address change, probably because since people move so frequently, the cost would be prohibitive.

I just moved and changed my address at the DMV website. Do you think they'll send me a piece of paper with the new address?

The local library said I have to have a piece of paper showing my new address, to get a library card. I could also use my next bank statement which may be a few weeks. I have nothing else to use.

I stopped by two local DMV offices. Huge lines.

Have you ever had a situation where it was a problem that your current address wasn't on your physical license?

I used the paper notice from the post office to get a new library card.

I tried to make an appointment with the DMV but their voice robot kept saying each day was filled.
Then I went to the DMV in El Monte and there was a huge line. I noted I was standing near a red fire hydrant at 1PM. At 120 PM, I was about ten feet in front of the hydrant, the line was so slow. I just went home. I'm just not going to get a totally new licence.

I drove past the Pasadena DMV and also a huge line. Perhaps I could go really early.

You will save time driving to a more remote location rather than standing in a line in a populated area. When I live in CA the Barstow DMV had short lines, and appointments available.

They only send out a new license if your former address was out of state (and you had an out of state license).
