Tim Ferris left the Bay Area for Austin, TX after living there for 17 years and being a huge fan of the area. He said that he got sick of living in the bubble mindset that has become Silicon Valley. I’ve always thought that I would jump at any opportunity to live in the the Bay Area but I wonder if it’s become too monolithic. That’s even before considering the insane Bay Area COL that makes LA look affordable.

Had a business in KS for decades. They don't have the schools like, Stanford, Davis, and Berkely churning out Silicon Valley kind of workers. Doubting if many of these tech compneis are conservative, maybe a handful.
Goes for NE, IA, ID,UT, etc too. The Govenor of KS has destoryed the state with taxes..

Plus who wants to move to a place with crappy weather like that whole flyover country has. I lived in tornado alley for 40+ years, had enough. We got smart and moved.

I love Thiel. He's everything that the tech industry isn't, but should be. The guy doesn't believe in groupthink, doesn't back down from anybody (tech people are notoriously passive), and if you were to pull out a sheet of paper and make a list of all the people who have ever gotten the best of him, you'd end up with a blank sheet of paper. Dude literally gives zero ****s what anyone else thinks, and has a trail of bodies in his wake to show that if you ever make a run at the king, you only get one shot so you'd best not miss.

I'm not sure what his relocation is supposed to mean in terms of job creation, however.
