there is a big LA DWP water tank that is several blocks big with some brush around it and I think he lives there. But still beyond that there is a lot of houses before any other brush area.
I haven't heard of any pets disappearing but we don't have any neighborhood news.
He looked healthy.

LA has a huge urban coyote population

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...t-to-know-how/

I used to see them in my neighborhood in Glendale every morning on the sidewalks a few miles and several busy streets away from wilderness areas

I live in a townhouse community in Warner Center and we have a coyote who likes to wander through the complex. It's a very woodsy complex with ponds and streams and foliage everywhere, so he probably feels at home.

Near Kenneth Hahn Park and the oil fields they are becoming more noticeable and have taken a few pets. I have never seen the owls that I hear at night

No hunting allowed in the city. We're not even allowed to shoot into the sky if ones attacking our pet. Coyotes are everywhere top of the food chain and multiplying like crazy. They just walk down the street in broad daylight now where I live

You can shoot coyotes if they are threatening your pets on your property. But you cannot go hunting for coyote.

Also you are responsible for any missed rounds.

You can also double check to see if there are firearm ordinances in your city. But in LA County there is no county or state ordinance against shooting a coyote attacking your pet on your property

#4 birdshot from a shotgun won't penetrate a cinder block wall.

If you have to use handgun or rifle, id recommend frangible rounds

But is there an ordnance against carrying a loaded gun on the street?

I've been seeing Coyotes in Santa Monica since the 1990s, usually in the early morning hours -- 4 or 5 a.m. I see them about once every two years. I once once saw a pack of four coyotes.
