How is $70k/year a low salary?

You are probably looking at $2000 a month for 2 bedroom in Burbank on the lower end . You’ll probably be looking at an older building versus being in one of the newer ones .

valley village is also a decent area or the nicer parts of north Hollywood .. but I don’t think you’ll save much versus being right in Burbank proper.

For L.A though this is a decent value .

You are getting different services versus city of L.A , it’s just a better run city with lower crime versus neighboring areas in city of la

@iron_stick sorry but 70k is low because after taxes it really leaves little left over for living expenses.
70k-20k in taxes=50k-40k (rent/food/insurance/gas) and LOW PAY

Now if this was Texas and rent was 1k a month then we would be having a different conversation!

@jm1982- thanks man! I still have to get the actual job offer but good to do some leg work.

Good luck with the job . I would recommend Burbank for sure if you can live there especially if you have family but even for a single person . It’s not a big nightlife area .. but there are a lot of decent bars and restaurants in the area .. If you want to go to Hollywood or other areas for nightlife they are a short drive or uber away.

The question of whether or not you can make it on 70k/year is entirely dependent on your other debts, if you have any. 70k is doable with no debts like loans (car or personal) or credit cards.

Well I have zero debt but at same time do not want to waste money or live in bad ghetto area.

Job is in Burbank so anyplace reasonable commute is fine and good nightlife a plus as I am single guy.
