Thanks and keep them coming! Sorry haven't been back for a while; she arrived Saturday and it's been non-stop since.

Done already:
LAX In-N-Out, Randy's (1st and 2nd stops, LOL)
Abbott Kinney, Venice canals, beach
Santa Monica beach, pier
Downtown: got there by train, walked around, Grand Central Mkt, Olvera St, general visit. Got to experience inconveniences caused by two different film shoots, ha ha.
The beaches at the southern end: Long, Huntington, Seal, Laguna, Newport, San Clemente. South Coast Plaza.

Looking forward to:
Getty (both of them)
Malibu
Loyola area (thanks sean1the1)
Possibly Langers (don't like hot dogs, sorry Xanathos but good suggest on the former, though it will mean DTLA again)
Getty
Pasadena
Others as time allows.

To the money question: this is as yet unsolved. She has a decent job, is frugal, and a California COLA bump could make it doable. I am a big believer in the universe helping you if you do three things: Imagine (or visualize), Desire and Work. Much of the goodness in my life, and that of my family, have been realized through these three steps. Simple, and common-sense in the end, isn't it?

And yes, we are showing her the not-so-good parts as well as we move through the area, though honestly we will probably not go out of our way to do so, the logic being they can be avoided for the most part (once living here, or anywhere for that matter) if being judicious in one's movements.

I wouldn't go to a place like Langers but for food I would go to Little Tokyo,Little India in Norwalk,Koreatown and Little Saigon. Monterey Park and Valley Blvd are also fantastic for every type of Chinese food.

For musuem type attractions I would also add in the Huntington Library and Gardens. I also like the Redondo Beach Pier and the scenic drive around Palos Verdes.
