Did KRTH recently add this song to their rotation? I don't remember hearing them play it before today, and it seems as though they only have around 80-90 songs in their rotation. BTW, do they actually have a program director over there, or did somebody find an 80's hits box set and simply make that their playlist? I suspect the latter, since there are some big acts suspiciously absent from their rotation, such as Missing Persons, OMD, etc., as if nobody really thought through with any degree of scrutiny what they could be playing for their particular format so that the playlist doesn't repeat several times a day.

Some of their stuff such as Secret reminds me of Summer.

Rock the Casbah is part of the rotation, so they're in the ballpark.

Okay...now playing BAD on Youtube...I haven't heard this song since the 80's, but yeah, it would make a good addition.

In the video when they walk out, I'd wager that was influenced by Buckaroo Banzai.

Ha, yeah definetely BB was an influence around that time.

Rock the Casbah is all fine and good, and well deserving of attention, but what about the lesser known amazing hits? Even JackFM gave love to that song.

But what about the others such as Siouxsie. I mean, this was perfection...

We should compile a list of stuff we want to hear on KRTH and submit it to the program director, if there is one.

It's really odd that quite a number of big hits, such as In a Big Country -- right off the top of my head -- are conspicuously absent. The more I think about it, it really does seem like they're playing a box set of stuff without any further aforethought.

Big Country was the chit.

I used to listen to KRTH but spend little time in the car unless, on fairly rare occasion, I drive to DTLA or Santa Ana or Downtown San Diego (or on the weekends, West LA, Palm Springs, etc.). I do have Sirius too so not sure what KRTH plays. They have 1st Wave on Sirius. Richard Blade man.

Here is another epic track...

EDIT: I went on KRTH to listen live. They just played Michael Jackson and I am not the biggest fan.

Yeah, I hate it when they play Beat It. I can't listen to MJ without thinking about all the creepiness with the little kids.

Oooh, here's another 80's song you'll never hear on KRTH:

And another:

And why not play more Madonna than just Borderline and Get Into the Groove, such as this one:

She had over a dozen hits in the 80's, so why do they only play two of them? Hello? Knock, knock...anybody home at KRTH?

And we could go on and on, eh? That's it, I'm applying to be the programming director at KRTH after Memorial Day.

I completely agree. It's like only playing "Jessie's Girl". Rick Springfield had other hits, like "Don't Talk to Strangers" and "Affair of the Heart". Granted, KRTH's formula is working for them since I can't think of even one other L.A. station that basically has the same format they did back in the 70s (oldies!) and is still around, so what do I know? I always laugh, though, that they never say they're playing oldies now! Time marches on, though, and since the 80s ended almost 30 years ago, no one can deny it. However, it does make me feel old now that they're starting to play 90s music, too.

By the way, I was just looked at "songs played" on KRTH's website, and they did play "In A Big Country" - at 2:33 a.m.!
