Depends on their approach.

I've had some real polite dudes ask for a buck, and offer to clean my window, or ask me to drive over to the air pump so they could add air, etc. Those dudes I'll give a 10 spot, no questions asked. They are broke, but hustling, and I appreciate people who hustle.

I've also had annoying jerks who ask for $5 off the bat, and then when I say no, they continue to hound me, offering nothing, just straight up begging. I've told those guys to **** off.

ohhhh boyyy

Ya, I've given a burger to a vagrant on the median only to have them chuck it to the ground. Can't buy booze with a cheeseburger. If someone really wanted work they'd be out in front of home depot with the other laborers.

Another tactic I use when they ask me is say "I was just about to ask you the same thing!"

That's illegal where I live. Not sure about LA, probably but law enforcement would be spotty there.

There are a 101 ways to manipulate someone to part with cash but none of them work on me because I never carry any.

Sorry but not sorry. I don’t care how poor you are or what your fantasy drug story is, I am NOT going to give ANY solicitor a penny of MY hard worked money.

I really go on a case to case basis. When hit outside a store, I usually say, "Do you take Visa"? (Still waiting for one who does ). Gas stations, same thing. At intersections or off ramps, if they look sober and are polite, I might give 'em a buck. I remember one time there was a teenage couple at a street corner with a sign. They reminded me of my kid, so I gave them 20 bucks and said "Go have lunch". It all depends, I guess.

a couple of times I've been hit up for gas money. I don't mind seeing homeless get out of town so I go inside put 5.00 on a pump then go out and tell them what I did. Both times the guy thanked me.

I see gypsies a lot with kids outside say Target. I never give to them I think they're despicable using kids like that.

I used to see a guy that really did look like a old vet at the same intersection. I gave him a few bucks a few times.

Most of the time I just say no sorry and walk away.
