Glassdoor is often off because they use older numbers in their calculations (engineer salaries have been going up every year for a while) and averages a biased towards less experienced employees with lower salaries.

Try Paysa instead: https://www.paysa.com/

Snapchat:

Space X:

How many years experience do you have? google is the highest paying near santa monica with salaries of $200,000+
Yes, you will be able to afford a 1 bedroom with a starting salary straight out of college.

Also a person straight out of college for tinder is around $110,000 base salary but they get stocks of about $30,000 a year. The value of the tinder stock (match.com) has triple over the past 1 year. So his total salary, stock, bonus was around $240,000 for a software engineer straight out of college.

Golly... what an embarrassment when techies are earning more than some Doctors.

Some of these techies are leveraging stock options to buy homes in silicon beach apparently.

Over the past year, big banks have become more open to allowing buyers to use option grants as a measure of total compensation. That has allowed buyers who work in tech to shop for far pricier homes than their salaries alone would allow them to consider, mortgage brokers and agents say.

Unfortunately getting a college degree is no guarantee that anyone will get a decent job as there are only so many openings.
