To everyone who doesn't see a problem with displaying the confederate flag, would you be okay with someone burning the American flag?

If the burning of an American flag upsets you, "stop staring at it". It's their property. Stop being offended at everything.

It's ridiculous to claim people in the Southeast, even confederates are more racist than well off whites who deliberately exclude Blacks from their neighborhoods in California. At least the confederate flag fliers are more honest about their racism.

Setting up a situation in which you exclude 99% of Blacks from living in your neighborhood or working at your company, but hiring one or two for "diversity" purposes does not make you "good" at all.

One thing I notice about the Southeast is at least you have a lot of African American homeowners and people who drive cars, and I've always felt the South had a bigger percentage of middle and upper middle class Blacks. Unlike certain cities which have most Black people in the poor section of town, working rock bottom jobs.

All this man and you want to complain about a FLAG? Dude, please.
Just curious...how are they excluding blacks from their neighborhoods?

There should be no problem with anyone flying the Confederate flag on private property; otherwise, this would be a violation of his First Amendment rights.

These Maps Document The History Of Housing Discrimination In Los Angeles: LAist

The effects of this historical redlining are with us today and will take generations to undo.

Los Angeles Times - We are currently unavailable in your region

Not to mention that high paying jobs such as the tech sector, the film industry, and top private sector jobs disproportionately have far few Black people.

So anyone who thinks in moving to LA they are going to a racist free place is sadly mistaken.

No doubt there was blatant racism with housing in the past not just for blacks but Hispanics and others too . Chinatown’s came about due to racism /segregation too . Jewish people lived in certain areas too at one point and places had signs saying “No Jews no dogs “

I also agree those industries aren’t too diverse . Film seems relatively diverse on camera but not on screen.

Regarding blacks not having jobs in the tech sector etc .. is it more that they are less likely to study computer science in college or they have those degrees and aren’t getting hired ?

The better question is why would someone want to proudly fly the flag of losers and racist traitors? Who wants to identify with that? It also makes you a target.

So neighborhoods are still openly prohibiting blacks from moving in or you're referring to what was happening 80 years ago? I'm aware those actions have had lasting effects. I'm asking if neighborhoods are currently openly prohibiting blacks from moving in?

Good question. Do all the degrees in pan-African studies and African American and related studies really going to help competing for a tech job? It is high time blacks, like whites who themselves are not studying science enough, get science degrees in considerable numbers.

Lol. No. That’s not how the 1A works. At all. The 1A guarantees you / us all freedom from government interference in our self expressions (except inciting violence). What individuals and private entities allow between each other is not guaranteed to be free from limitations and repercussions.

Blacks who get STEM degrees are still twice as likely to have a harder time finding work than Whites and other ethnicities who have STEM degrees. If you think the only degree Black people are pursuing are "pan-African studies" and "communications", then you are the one being ignorant right now.

And what does this have to do with the Confederate flag?
