I'm looking to try to stay fairly close to LAX and or Universal Studios. We will be going out to Disney for a day as well, but because my main mode of transportation is going to be Uber I'm trying to keep the price down. Budget no more than about $130 a night, 4 night stay so we will likely be exploring the neighborhood. Any suggestions on a safe and affordable stay would be greatly appreciated.

LAX, Uni, and Disney are not near each other in any respect. Pick one and stay near there.

If Universal, I'd recommend the Coast Anabelle or Amarano.

Thanks! I know they're spread everywhere. But since most of what we're doing is closer to universal, I thought that might be our best bet.

$130 will limit your options considerably for a decent hotel in a safe area. I'm not particularly fond of the area around LAX as I find it to be quite sketchy, but if you are insistent on staying there, I would recommend looking in El Segundo.

Since you are splitting your trip between Disneyland and Universal, I would personally recommend staying somewhere in the south bay (Torrance, Redondo, Hermosa, Manhattan) as it will be closer to the midway point between the two parks, and there are lots of walkable areas to explore nearby.

LAX and Universal can also both be accessed by the Metro system, so that might be an option? Staying somewhere affordable that you can use the Metro to get where you want? I can't say I know of a place at $130/140 a night off the top of my head though. :/

We ended up starting in mid city at a great little air bnb for$85/ night. Uber was reasonable in every direction. Thanks so much for the suggestions, very helpful!

Thanks for updating. How did you like universal studios? How much time did you spend there?
