Yesterday I went to one of the passport office in LA to renew my passport. I gave my forms and check, they verified everything, all set and I came back home. Within an hour, I received a call from them stating that in my check, there is only the name and no address, so they need me to come and write the address on check. (The lady who verified my forms and check is a different lady and she went out for lunch). The new lady told me that it is a government rule that when they collect a check for passport, the applicant should mention the address in the check. I went back (45 minute drive) and filled out my address.

When I was in TX, I applied for passport and other visa related services. I never wrote the address in my check and I never had the problem. Is this a new rule or is the lady who told me this misunderstood something?

Thanks.
