I noticed the IHOP on Santa Monica Blvd. and 20th has closed. Does anyone care?

I googled and found that many IHOP and Applebee's stores are closing, presumably because Millennials aren't into them: https://www.businessinsider.com/appl...-ditch-2018-2/

When I was a kid in the 1970s, my parents often drove us from NYC to Miami for Christmas vacations. We often stopped at IHOP, Howard Johnson, Holiday Inn, Stucky's, and of course, South of the Border: South Of The Border ~ America’s Favorite Highway Oasis

IHOP was famous for having so many flavors of pancake syrup. Everywhere else, it was only maple syrup. (Yeah, you could forgo the syrup for honey, butter, or jam.) But IHOP had strawberry syrup, blueberry, and every other kind.

End of en era?

I think a problem with that location was the low visibility (didn't look like a traditional IHOP), and what seemed like a daunting parking situation.

Millennial here. I've never really been a big fan of IHOP as I can often get much better food and service at most local diner/breakfast joints.

That particular IHOP was my go-to restaurant after fasting for my annual physical. It closed awhile back when the Best Western changed ownership.

Maybe they’ll replace it with a donut shop.

I mean IHOP is good if you're wasted - but why would you ever go to Applebees.

IHOP isn’t too bad , I think they are better than Denny’s I went to one not too long ago and prices had been raised pretty high , many items like $14 or more .
Apparently the company that owns IHOP and Applebee’s is looking to acquire smaller healthy and ethnic fast casual type chains . Seems to make sense especially with min wages going up fast casual is less labor intensive .

I hope so. I love donuts and there aren't any good donut shops in that immediate area.

IHOP was my favorite pancake place when I just came to America. Now I go to non-chain restaurants for pancake.

That's sad. That was the local IHOP with the best service. I guess the rent got too high.
