From Thousand Oaks to Inglewood you will have to face the 405/101 Intersection, the 405/10E,W Intersection, and all the traffic towards LAX. Inglewood is passing LAX. My recommendation is 'Don't Do it'. Especially with gas prices these days plus you're looking at a 2 hour commute.

Not significant but it would save maybe 15-20 minutes even with no traffic. Most of the traffic is east of Calabasas anyway. Only during the worst times of the day (especially when the sun is in your eyes heading east) does the traffic back up between TO and Calabasas.

It's the 2nd part that has me concerned. Is this for real?

I wouldn't recommend this commute at all as the 101 and 405 are THE biggest meat grinders in the country. You would more than likely be driving, I mean parked on the freeways for close to 4 hours a day round trip, then after a few months you will probably be in here posting negative comments about LA...

"I used to drive from Century City to Inglewood on 405 (which is about 1/2 of your commute) and it took just under 1 hr usually."

I realize this is a little late for this thread, but why in the world would anyone go all the way from Century City to the 405 to get to Inglewood? That throws you miles out of the way.

Fear of surface streets? On surface streets it's about 30 min.

The best way to get to Inglewood from Century City is to take Olympic west to Overland, then south on Overland. Follow the curve along Holy Cross Cemetery. Then use Hanum to cut around Holy Cross to Slauson & go east into the northern part of Inglewood or jog over to catch either Centinela to go into central Inglewood or Sepulveda to go under the 405 to get to the west side of Inglewood.

Overland is a fast north-south street. It gets narrower & more congested north of Pico. It ends at the Mormon Temple on Santa Monica Blvd.

Default The 405 Freeway is a Killer

Take it from someone who driven the LA freeways for 20 years. First of all, such a commute (Thousand Oaks to Inglewood) will destroy you. During rush-hour, morning traffic, expect 2-3 hours (one way) everyday. Also, Inglewood IS NOT West L.A. I would suggest you test the waters, first, before taking this job or relocating, permanently. You're in for major disappointment.

I ended up moving to Irvine. Commuting from the South is much better and to Inglewood is usually 45min. People say, "yeah but what about traffic or if there's an accident." Based on my experience, those days are very rare.

It's funny how I focus on the positive while in denial. I have since changed jobs and feel so much better with my new 20min commute. I didn't realize how stressful that drive was until I stepped away from the situation. Life's too short. Don't spend it on a freeway.
