Why on the Los Angeles Metro lines does the loudspeaker recording say “please do not play any loud music while riding the Metro?” Why isn’t it “do not play any music PERIOD?”

Why aren’t the Metro security personnel citing and fining the individuals who keep playing music from their portable speakers and phones?

There are people constantly playing loud music as well as performers who bring guitars on the train… they don’t need to tie up LAPD officers to deal with these people, but they have their own Metro transit security guards who should be addressing these individuals’ bad behavior.

There are also people who light up marijuana in the transit cars! Many get on the cars reeking of it but some have the gall to actually try and smoke it too. This is unacceptable.

As an added bonus, they will hand out fines, which provides profit for Metro. Accusations of profiling? It’s not based on race, but rather, who is bothersome and breaking the rules.

And some people wonder why such a great number of people don't want to abandon their cars and share transportation with the dregs of society.

Yes it’s such a mystery isn’t it ?

We spend billions of tax payer money on public transit and parks etc yet people often can’t even enjoy them.

Gov brown decided to convert public transportation and parks (among other public areas) into "housing" for criminals and mentally ill. It costs waaay more to deal with the problems than building and staffing more secured facilities- its a crime in and of itself

Playing music on the trains is often an act of social aggression. Often the music players are playing random songs loudly on their phone or speaker. Cheap earbuds are only $2. There's no reason for anyone to be doing this all the time other than they are trying to be annoying.

Maybe we should all start keeping a stash of the $2 earbuds and toss 'em at these buffoons.

I like the comment that they should be given citations! Who would issue them? Who would collect?
