How often do you use Metro subways and light rail. I've used the subway several times to go to DTLA for events or a quick taste of the downtown urban vibe. How about you?

I take the Gold Line from Pasadena to DTLA everyday for work!
Pretty efficient. Very crowded tho.

I take Metrolink from the IE and connect for free to the Metro. Take it most places of interest in LA. It’s a lot better than it gets credit for.

I've take the blue line from long Beach. I enjoyed the ride, it's ok if you don't mind people smoking week on the train.

I have taken the Red, Purple, Gold, and Expo lines. I took the blue line years ago. It's a rolling flea market. I use it when I go downtown. I like that you can monitor your balance and add money to the tap card online. I've never taken Metrolink. It seems expensive to use for a daily commute. I guess it is better than driving. I just can't see having that long of a daily commute either way.

I commute from Montclair to Downtown LA a few times a month on Metrolink. There are thousands of people that do it daily as the trains are standing room only during rush hour. I get to the work location faster than people that commute from the westside of LA. I would never do the drive as that would be horrendous.

I didn't even know the Metrolink covers almost the entire metro I see in OC now, And I see tons of people on it.

I ride only occasionally, used to be a daily rider where I previously lived. 90% of the time it's fine, the other 10% you get smelly vagrants or mentally unstable people in your car.

Just like any other major city in the world. Ever been to NYC and rode the subway? There you also have to put up with rats.

I've riden heavy rail in several US, Canadian, and Asian cities. I haven't riden BART, but in NYC and Chicago, rancid vagrants and mentally unstable people are much less common than LA on rail. The scale of the problem is much worse in LA. In Toronto, Montreal, Tokyo, Singapore, Beijing, and Seoul, I saw no issues. Again, it doesn't make the system un-ridable, but when driving is generally as fast as the subway outside of a few times, not having to deal with vagrants definitely is a pro for driving.
